Lucy’s story starts like many others - she followed the path she thought she was supposed to take.
It’s hard to stray from the well-trodden path when family and friends encourage you to tick the same life boxes they did. So Lucy followed along - she moved to London, started a job at a real estate fund, and in 2015, she qualified as a Chartered Surveyor. But the accomplishment never really hit the mark. She ticked the box, got the qualification - but the job and her life stayed the same.
In 2016, Lucy took two months off to travel around Australia and New Zealand - scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef, wine tasting in Marlborough, and reconnecting with herself in a way she hadn’t for years.
But when she landed back in the UK, everything was exactly the same. The deal she’d left on her desk was still under offer. And the dull ache of dissatisfaction had returned.

Later that year, Lucy experienced her first breakdown. She remembers the exact moment - a physical jolt, as if she’d been punched in the chest.
After months of working on a major portfolio, having just gained unanimous approval from the Investment Committee to take it to the next step, a new colleague told her all her work was a wasted effort and they wouldn’t be buying it.
Lucy went to the theatre that night - a Jeeves & Worcester comedy - but the laughs never came. She felt weighed down, but couldn’t explain by what. The next day, within 10 minutes of arriving in the office, she was hyperventilating and in tears.
Recovery isn’t a straight line. For Lucy, it meant learning to spot the signs and manage them early.
A country girl at heart, she realised that city life was fuelling her anxiety. So, in 2017, she left London and moved back in with her parents.
A year later, she met her (now) husband and eventually moved back to London in 2019 to be with him. Cue the restart of her symptoms, leading to working part-time, working remotely (not so acceptable pre-Covid!), and eventually, handing in her notice.

With no idea what she wanted to do, Lucy decided to pursue what she knew she could do: numbers. She launched a financial modelling consultancy, building bespoke models, delivering training, and working as a fractional analyst.
Her business grew quickly - an engaged audience, loyal clients, a strong reputation.
But behind the success, Lucy was burning out at least once a year.
She was working with clients who didn’t align with her values, chasing goals that didn’t feel like hers, and tying her happiness to financial targets that never seemed enough.
In the summer of 2025, Lucy reached her breaking point. She’d had enough - enough stress, enough striving, enough unhappiness.
She knew she needed to step off the path that she was on, and start making intentional decisions towards living a life that brought her joy and contentment. She read, researched, and defined her own version of success, and started taking practical steps towards living her dream life.
Today Lucy lives in the Cotswolds, with her dog and husband (in that order), and she says no to anything that doesn’t align with her dream life.
In 2027 Lucy’s husband is pursuing his dream of taking part in the Round the World Clipper Race, while Lucy will be travelling with various family and friends to meet him on stops along the way, including her dream trip: crossing Australia by train.

Lucy soon realised that she wasn’t the only one who felt unhappy with the life they were living. As she shared her story, more and more people opened up about feeling lost, unfulfilled, or stuck in lives that didn’t truly reflect what they wanted.
That’s why she created Dare to Dream - to help others redefine success, reconnect with gratitude, and take practical, intentional steps toward a life that feels balanced, meaningful, and completely their own.
Because your dream life isn’t waiting for you someday - you can start living it today.
